The Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan has a long legacy of committed volunteers. There are a variety of ways you can help us carry out our mission… and you don’t even have to move furniture!

Client and Donor Office Support Volunteer:

We sometimes have volunteer opportunities available to assist with office support.
Shifts are typically:  9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Monday – Thursday or 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Friday.

Office Support Volunteer Job Description:

Furniture donations are the backbone of our organization. Office volunteers help us schedule pickup appointments that allow us to provided children and families in need with essential, gently-used furniture.

This important role assists our client service team with the following:

  • Working by phone with furniture donors to schedule furniture pickups and confirm scheduled pickup appointments
  • Data Entry
  • Filing


  • Some computer experience
  • Ability to communicate with furniture donors by phone
  • Ability to work in an office environment
  • Most importantly – Have Fun!
