The Furniture Bank is the only organization in Southeastern Michigan that distributes home furnishings to families and individuals in crisis. Imagine for a moment what your house would be like with no furniture. Self-sufficiency is very difficult to achieve when your primary worry is that your children are sleeping on the floor, and you have no way to make them dinner.
Since 1968, Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan has helped people turn an empty house into a home so they can focus on steady employment and self-sufficiency. With your help, Furniture Bank plays a crucial role in providing the household items necessary for a stable home environment - chairs to sit in, a stove to cook on and a bed to sleep in!
In order to apply for any of the following programs, contact any agency listed under "Partners".
Furniture For Families - We “furnish hope” to families that need essential household items. Families come to our warehouse to choose from the gently used donated items. Demand always exceeds supply.
Beds - Since our inception, we've collected and provided out tens of thousands of beds to local children and families in need.
Pak and Plays - The Furniture Bank provides new Pak and Plays to parents who more often than not have no other option to provide for their infant.
We do not take referrals directly from individuals, but work through an established referral process with human service agencies in Oakland County. All clients are interviewed by the referring agency and are screened for income eligibility and need. A partial list of referring agencies includes:
