Mission, Vision and Core Values
Mission
The Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan provides beds and essential home furnishings to children and families in need.
Vision
It is our vision that every family in southeastern Michigan can live with dignity in homes that are properly furnished, that all area children have access to a safe and comfortable sleep environment, and that all useable furniture will be efficiently reused, repurposed, or recycled.
Core Values
1. We value families
- We value our staff and volunteers, and we strive to create an organization that is passionate about our cause and provides:

2. We value children
- We value children, their development, and their physical and emotional well-being
- We know that inadequate sleep negatively impacts a child's cognitive functioning and ability to grow and thrive
- We believe each child should have access to a safe and comfortable crib or bed

4. We value the environment
- We are environmental stewards and problem solvers that believe in the importance of recycling and sustainability.
- We believe there is great value in removing furniture from the waste stream - both to improve our current environment and ensure that it can be utilized by those who will benefit from it the most.
- We encourage the community we serve to embrace our mission not only for the good of families in need, but also for the good of our environment for future generations.
5. We value the resources with which we are entrusted
- We strongly believe in fiscal responsibility and have great respect for our role as stewards of the resources we are given.
- We value transparency, which we believe to be an essential component of sound financial management.
