Our mission is to improve lives in Oakland and Macomb counties by collecting gently used furniture and appliances and giving them to families in need. This has an immediate, positive impact and provides part of the basic foundation on which a successful life can be built.

News of Furniture Bank's mission
to furnish hope
After losing home to forclose, Joanne remains optimistic
Joanne Lasure, a home healthcare worker, is all too aware of our nation's current foreclosure crisis. After a reduction in work hours, she was unable to keep up with her mortgage and her home went into foreclosure.
"It was like a black cloud over me," she said.
Joanne's niece Tammy welcomed Joanne into her family's home, where she now lives along with Tammy's husband Mike,
In an economic environment that challenges all nonprofits in southeast Michigan, Furniture Bank made the painful decision to close its Macomb County facility at the end of last month.
It is our hope that this will be a temporary measure as we search for new sustainable alternatives and potential partners to effectively serve the county. Last year alone, we gave furniture and appliances to more than 700 Macomb County families.
All existing Macomb client referrals have been forwarded to our Pontiac facility, where clients will be able to pick up items as we receive them. We understand that this will be an inconvenience for the families who need furniture and we will work with them to make the transition as smooth as possible. New Macomb referrals have been temporarily suspended.
